I’m really into the portfolio site of Ian Coyle. I love the unorthodox method of interaction, keeps me well engaged. The really nice and well thought out design doesn’t hurt either.

Nakashima

George Nakashima was such an amazing designer and craftsman of fine wood furniture that has inspired so many modern woodworkers. I see so much of his style these days as I feel handcrafted furniture is making a comeback. I see a lot of his details in other peoples work, but they just don’t have the soul his has.

I found Matthias Pliessnig’s website while looking for organic woodworking forms and steam bending. All I have to say is wow. Super inspiring woodworker/sculptor/furniture creator.

This very adaptable typeface made by mixes the plain antiqua with a more angular ancient “rune” look resulting in some awesomely unique combinations with the use of Open-Type.

The geometric constructed upper case grotesque comes along with two additional integrated extravagant stylistic sets for the whole alphabet and some astonishing special characters as well.

I’ve been working with the super talented crew at Free Association here in Brooklyn. It’s inspirational to be around such talented and friendly folk. Everyone helps each other out to make the best decisions and designs for the client. No super heroes, just good quality design in which everyone helps contribute to.

New invite work

I’ll get around to posting good photos of the finished piece but for now here’s a fun and unique wedding invite I designed. 2 color letterpress poster invite that’s folded into quarters highlighting the bride and grooms adventures together following up to their wedding day. Thanks to Dependable Letterpress for doing such an amazing job again.

Here’s a really nice site for design studio Unfold based out of Oslo. Overall there are just so many layers and it totally breaks the traditional box of typical site design. They don’t even have their work section posted yet and I can tell they do great design. Can’t wait to see the updated site.

I’m going to start posting an image a week of some paintings I’ve done or am working on. Sometimes I’ll post more, sometimes less.

Here’s a new direction I’m going in. Realistic-ish under paintings with more gesturally layering of paint on top.
