It’s Holiday time and I decided to make my own cards (that’s me on the left and my wife on the right) since I have access to some letterpresses now. I had the plates made and booked some time on the presses.
This is my first go at printing anything “real” myself and I’m quite pleased with the outcome. I was a little worried about aligning the 2 plates since it had to be done by hand but it came out nice. After I was comfortable printing I decided to have fun with different inks, blind hits and wiping most ink off the rollers so only a slight tint printed. Super fun and can’t wait to print more projects. Next time I’m going to utilize the huge array of wood and metal type.

Web Museum of wood type and ornaments from Unicorn Graphics. I’m getting ready to print at The Arm NYC this weekend which has an array of wood and metal type to choose from, although I got a couple plates made through Boxcar Press. I might experiment with overprinting some wood type over my designs if I have time.

Bauhaus is at the MOMA! First time the MOMA has had a major exhibition on the Bauhaus since 1938. Got to see the member’s preview and it was amazing to see all this work I studied back in school up close and personal.
It’s up until the end of January so if you’re ever in NYC I highly recommend a visit. I’ll most definitely be going back a few times.
